If you do not attend a school that offers the Cambridge program, you can still take the IGCSE exams as a private candidate.
So how to register for IGCSE as a private candidate?
- Find an international school in your area that teaches the Cambridge curriculum that accepts private candidates and registers with them to take the IGCSE exam.
- You can register for the IGCSE exam at the British Council.
If you do not know how many international schools in Vietnam offer IGCSE programs and accept private candidates, you can refer here.
Note: Schools have the sole discretion to decide if they are willing to accept private applicants.

Examination Board examination venue in Vietnam
When studying in the IGCSE program, the official examination board in Vietnam is Cambridge International Examinations (CIE). The Exam Board is an organization responsible for exam preparation, grading, awarding, and rewarding international certificates.
The CIE Exam Board grants internationally recognized degrees and is recognized by all UK universities as well as universities in the US (Stanford and all Ivy League universities), Canada, the European Union, Middle East, West Asia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kazakhstan and in other countries.
In British Council Vietnam, each year there will be 2 exam seasons: May-June and October-November.

You can complete your payment by one of the following methods:
- Pay at a British Council office
You can pay by credit card or cash at the British Council offices at:
- Hanoi: 20 Thuy Khue, Tay Ho
- HCMC: 1st Floor, Viettel Complex Building, 285 Cach Mang Thang Tam, Ward 12, District 10.

- Hanoi: 08.30–19.00 (Monday – Friday); 08.30-12.00 and 13.30-16.30 (Saturday)
- HCMC: 08.30–19.00 (Monday – Friday); 08.30-12.00 and 13.30-16.30 (Saturday)

Make a bank transfer to the following account and submit your paid invoice to the British Council’s online registration system or email the British Council via:
- exams.hanoi@britishcouncil.org.vn for candidates in Hanoi
- exams.hcmc@britishcouncil.org.vn for candidates in HCMC
Your booking will be processed within three days of the British Council receiving your test application and test fee.
